What others have to say… Introverts about Extroverts

On the other hand, when I asked Introverts how they perceived Extroverts, they said that they perceive Extroverts as being:

  • Loud
  • Pushy
  • Bold
  • Overwhelming
  • Impatient
  • Impulsive
  • Self-assured
  • Playful
  • More fun
  • Unreserved
  • Dismissive

  • Powerful
  • Unfiltered
  • Squeaky wheel

“What I want you to know about me” – Extroverts

During that same exercise at the workshop, I also asked each Type what they would like the other Type to know about them.

These answers were typical of what many Extroverts say that they want Introverts to know about them. Extroverts want you to know:

  • We are exciting
  • We want to know you
  • We’re outgoing
  • We want to include you
  • We’re self-assured
  • Forgive us for thinking out loud
  • We really do want to hear you/include you
  • We’re expressive
  • Our lack of filter isn’t intended to hurt you
  • We are loving, in a loud way
  • We don’t want to make you feel uncomfortable
  • Our observations (like, “You’re being quiet.”) aren’t meant to be critical—they are just our way of investigating or opening conversation

“What I want you to know about me” – Introverts

I did the same exercise with the Introverts at a company retreat, and this group shared with me what Introverts want you to know about them:

  • We are smart
  • You are intimidating
  • We need time alone, but don’t exclude us
  • Invite me to participate
  • Listen to me when I talk
  • Show me you get me
  • Patience
  • Quiet
  • Time
  • Compassion
  • Interested in what we have to say
  • Value in the way we do things
  • Thoughtful = good
  • Drop the timer
  • Give me space to be my best
  • Give me a chance to think and talk
  • Understanding
  • Respect
  • Connection
  • Just because I’m quiet doesn’t mean I don’t care, that I’m dumb or don’t get it

Which one are you? Extrovert or Introvert?

So, I have given you as much detail as I can to hopefully give you confidence to choose which one you have a preference for and to what degree: (1–30). And if you need a little extra help you can also take the free assessment. So, take a moment here and choose which one best describes you. Where do you think you fit on the Extrovert/Introvert scale? Are you strongly Introverted? Are you strongly Extroverted? Or are you somewhere in between?

“What I want you to know about me” – Sensors

During that same exercise, I also asked Sensors what they want Intuitive Types to know about them. These answers are what Sensors say they want you to know about them:

  • We need to be creative
